Back in 2000, the Pickering Jazz Society was founded with the twin aims of keeping the Jazz flame alive between the annual Jazz Festivals in Pickering (North Yorkshire) and introducing Jazz to a younger audience and players.
Over the intervening 12 years these aims were met with a monthly Jazz evening featuring an ever evolving 'house band' with guests and visiting bands and by outreach work into local schools culminating in excellent Jazz concerts performed by the children.
The Ryedale Jazz Society has had a number of homes over the years but is now back where it all started at the Beansheaf Hotel in Pickering.
The Society meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7.30 pm. All are welcome. Admission remains free but there is a raffle which helps fund the musicians' travel expenses.
Come along and join us!
